Saturday June 21st, a freak thunderstorm system hit California from about the Big Sur area up to the Oregon border. My friend and I were down in Big Sur, Ventana Wilderness, Los Padres Natl Forest, quite high upon a ridge with fairly little cover, hoping that the storm was not going to decide that we were the tallest tree in the area. Anyway The first 7 pics are of the thunderhead and associated clouds. The next pic is of Mt. Olmstead, about 40 minutes after the last lightning strike hit it, someways up the Pine Ridge trail after the Cienega trail junction, around 2900 ft elevation. then the last three pics are of the plume of smoke @ 1030a sunday morning of what some people on the scene were calling the logwood fire. Notice the distinct v shape.
